Girls Weekend

Brad took off for a golf trip to Death Valley with his firm for the weekend, leaving the girls home alone! We kicked off the weekend in style with a trip to M's favorite restaurant, McDonalds, followed by a viewing of "Alvin and the Chipmunks" at home. It was a fun girls night.


One of my friends in the ward gave us this little baby station for Violet. She's still a little too small, her feet don't reach the bouncy board and she can't quite reach any of the toys, but sometimes she likes to sit in it, especially when Morgan will work all the toys for her. For some reason the caterpillar was especially surprising this day.

On Saturday we packed a picnic lunch and went to the circus! Summerlin is pretty cool, they plan lots of community events and this was one of them. Morgan was so excited all week, saying she wanted to see all of the animals. If you asked her she would tell you that there would be elephants, ponies, lions, unicorns, and more ponies. We arrived early, found some seats, and waited for the show to begin.

Unfortunately it wasn't quite what we thought. Much to M's complete disappointment there were NO animals. At all. There was a tightrope, trapeez, bungee guy, a clown and even the thing where they ride motorcycles inside of a giant metal sphere. Morgan was kind of into it. She thought the clown show was pretty funny, but would get a little bored with everything else. And it did sort of become a giant sales pitch after a while. There would be a 5 minute performance followed by 10 minutes of vendors walking around trying to sell stuff. The worst was when the announcer said "And now we have a very special treat for all of the kids in the audience, Giant Circus Balloons!" Followed by the clown running out with these huge balloons. All of the kids rushed him to get one, then the announcer followed up with "For the low, low price of only $3!" Yeah, some really disappointed children and angry parents after that one.

Our other exciting event this weekend was Violet started eating rice cereal. She seems too like it and is even a pretty clean eater. She hit four months this weekend and had her check-up. She is doing great and even survived her second round of shots. It always kills me knowing they're going to poke her, and then when she cries it's hard to just stand there. But this time was made that much worse when they gave her the first shot and Violet began to cry, Morgan looked at me with her eyes feeling with tears and said "Mom! Violet's hurt!" and then tried to run over to help her. It was so sweet and so sad at the same time. But we all made it through.

It was a fun Girls Weekend, but we were all excited when Dad came home Saturday afternoon (probably Mom the most).
